Refuge Youth Ministry is introducing a leadership track, Refuge University (RU), to help students in grades 7-12 take the next step in their faith journey. RU is designed to move students from an introduction to Refuge Youth Ministry and First Baptist Church, to a focus on spiritual formation and ending with a year focus on discovering and using their gifts and passions for the community, church and the Lord.
Each course is one semester in length with various Sunday classes. RU301 and RU401 require work outside Sunday morning classes. RU301 also requires an application. RU101This class is an introduction into Refuge Youth Ministry and First Baptist Church. We will discuss the mission, vision and values of these ministries and what it means to be part of a church. We will also give an overview of Baptist Basics and major church ordinances like baptism and the Lord's Supper.

RU201This class will help you develop the HABITS you need to become fully devoted followers of Jesus. We will discuss and practice: Hang Time with God; Attend Church; Be Generous; Invest in Christian Friendships; Tell My Story; and Serving Others.

RU301 & RU401This courses are taken in conjunction with one another. The fall semester is about discovering your spiritual gifts and passions as well as leadership. Students will visit community partners to learn about needs in the community God has placed us.
In RU401, students will use their spiritual gifts and passions to design a project that ithat influences the church, youth ministry and/or community.
